The Flag Memorial by Octavio Tirelli

The only place in Rosario that you can’t miss is the Flag Memorial. The Flag Memorial is a symbol for Rosario, a landmark. It was opened to the public on 20 of July 1957. It is located on Santa Fe Street and on the spot where General Manuel Belgrano hoisted the national flag for the first time.

The architects that made posible this national treasure were Alejandro Bustillo and Ángel Francisco Guido. And the sculptors that made the beautiful sculptures that surround it are Alfredo Bigatti, and José Fioravanti. The flag memorial itself is not the only attraction, since it contains the hall of flags, the tower, a fountain in the back and a fire that never goes out.

The work as a whole symbolizes the country's ship sailing the seas of eternity in search of a glorious destiny. Through the different groups of sculptures the economic, spiritual, historical and geographical values of our nation are represented.

The Flag Memorial is a great place to visit because it has wonderful views, it is surrounded by parks and it is located by the Parana River. In the same area, near the Flag Memorial are also located the City Hall and the Cathedral.

So, if you are planning a picnic or looking for the most beautiful place in Rosario, the Flag Memorial is the place you are looking for.
