City Parks by Clara Széliga

Rosario is a big city on the South - East of the Province of Santa Fe on the right - hand shore of the Paraná River. Rosario has several parks and green spaces where the people can relax and enjoy being in contact with nature in the city. The parks you can visit in the city are Urquiza Park, Spanish Park, the Flag National Park, Alem Park and Independence Park.

The Urquiza Park is located on the banks of the Parana River, from which you have a view of the islands. The park is contains a planetarium, observatory and an experimental science museum. This group of buildings together show a comet-like structure. There is also an amphitheater for music performances.

Other parks of the city are the Spanish Park, located on Sarmiento St. and the Paraná River; the Flag National Park, located in front of the Flag Memorial; and the Alem Park, located in the North–East of the city, which has a public swimming pool complex, a cultural center and a camping site, opposite the Rosario Central Stadium.

But the most traditional park in Rosario is the Independence Park, surrounded by the following streets: Oroño, 27 de Febrero, Ovidio Lagos and Pellegrini. Visitors can go for a boat ride on the lake, or walk the trails and bridges that surround it. At night the lake is transformed into a show of music, lights and colors with the dancing waters located in the center of the lake and surprising all the tourists who visit the city.

In the Independence Park you can also see an area called the Rose Garden, where there are roses of all colors, the venue of the Rural Association, the Racetrack, the Newell’s Old Boys Stadium and the dovecote.
Rosario is a city that has something to offer to everyone. Whether you want to spend your time seeing the architecture that characterizes the city or simply relaxing, Rosario is a great city for a weekend vacation with your family.
